ASL PC Steward for Windows

Testing build, development-signed. This is the existing 1.8.4 candidate, not the Microsoft Store distribution package. A new PC must explicitly trust the ASL test signer before Windows can install it. The offline ZIP includes the same installer, Microsoft's x64 Windows App Runtime, the public test certificate and instructions. It does not run anything automatically.
This direct testing download remains version 1.8.4.0 and is not the certified 1.9.5 Store update. It does not change the separate Store purchase or require a hosted subscription.
Choose when to monitor
Active Monitor starts off. Turn it on when needed, choose a refresh interval, and stop it when you are finished.
Stay in control
Scans are read-only. Repairs and permanent Safe Cleanup are separate, explicitly confirmed actions. No broker or server is required for local diagnostics.
Getting started
Install the downloaded package
- Download the MSIX installer. If this PC needs the dependency or test certificate, download and extract the offline ZIP instead.
- If needed, install Microsoft.WindowsAppRuntime.2.msix from the bundle's Dependencies/x64 folder. Its publisher is Microsoft Corporation.
- Close Steward if it is open. Open ASL.PCSteward_1.8.4.0_x64.msix and use Windows App Installer to install or update it.
- Launch ASL PC Steward from Start. Monitoring stays off until you choose it.
Windows says the publisher certificate is not trusted
This download is for controlled testing. Its signer is CN=ASLDevelopment, not Microsoft. Only add trust if you intend to test this ASL-signed build; trust applies to other packages signed with the same certificate and to all users of this PC.
In the offline bundle, inspect ASL.PCSteward_1.8.4.0_x64.cer. Confirm this certificate thumbprint before proceeding:

An administrator can use Install Certificate → Local Machine → Place all certificates in the following store → Trusted People. Do not place it in Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Then reopen the MSIX.
No private signing key is included. Do not disable antivirus, Smart App Control or other Windows protections. If organizational policy blocks testing packages, ask your administrator or use the Store distribution when available.
